The first "mists" or "ectoplasmic-like" substance forming that I have yet encountered in three years of ghost hunting. It was not cold enough (approx 60 degrees) to be any kind of heat vapor (nor do I smoke), and it was also unseen by the naked eye when the photographs were snapped. Notice in the photograph to the left that at the same time the "mist" was captured, two or three orbs were also present, as if something were trying to form or take shape from one type of manisfestation into another.




Take another look at this image. Some people say that a person's face, with their eyes shut, can be seen in the upper box, while the profile of a woman's face can be seen in the lower box. It's also been said that the entire mist resembles the left half side of the face of a devil, complete with ear, cheekbones, smiling curled lips, teeth, hollow eye socket, and horn on the top of the head. What do you think?













Here's what it would look like as an entire face - the picture has been flipped over in the reverse direction to provide a matching half for the other side of the image. Is is an actual apparition or just a trick of the eye? You be the judge!























Upon closer exmination, two "facial" images can also be made out forming in the first photograph (click to enlarge). In the upper left image the two faces are indicated, the images is an enhacements of the original. The first, of left-most face, appears to be looking slightly downward and to the right. One can make out two dark eye sockets, eyes in each, a nose, an open, gaping mouth with mist coming out, teeth, and a chin. The second, or right-side face is looking upwards at the first and appears slightly "flattened" as if not yet fully formed. Two dark eye sockets, a nose, nostrils, and a closed mouth are apparent, as also are two "pointed" ears on either side of the head, complete with shadows. Also of note is the presence of orbs in the same image, almost as if they were a by-product of the spirits attempting to form. While it is true that one can find almost anything in the shadows if you look hard enough, the fact that the second face actually looks like the larger one caught in the second photograph and even shares some of the same facial features is uncannily eerie and argues against random matrixing. Also to be considered is the fact that the two photographs were taken no more than 30 seconds apart, which would be the logical progression one would expect if a spirit was in the process of trying to form or manifest itself, from one photograph to the next.





Here are two recently processed views showing what the complete face would look like, one in relief showing texture and shading, the other a negative view of the same image. It remains the most remarkable image we've ever captured. If anything futher comes up, we'll be sure to post the results here!

SECOND VISIT (11/4/06) - On November 4, 2006, we returned for a second visit to Winesburg Cemetery, and did two complete sweeps through the cemetery. No further mists turned up on this visit, but we did get the usual collection of orbs. The next sequence of photos was unexpected, we picked some more light energy, just as we did the last time at the same cemetery:














It seems unlikely to be an extraneous light source as in some photos they are passing between two headstones, and clearly are moving in front of them, rather than some point in the distance. While some are moving in unison, other lights are moving up or across at right angles to the others. Other streaks are intwined around each other, almost braided in appearance, which is unlikely if they were distant light sources, that would all move at equal distances from each other and in identical directions. Orbs are also present in two of the images, at the same time the energy was caught.


We also caught our first EVPs from Winesburg. In the first clip WINE 1 CLIP you hear me asking if anyone there would like to speak and make contact. Imemdiately after occurs an almost inhuman sounding high-pitched groan or moan, that is clearly not mechanical in origin, but a vocalization coming from someone who is having great difficulty or effort making themselves heard. What is interesting is that if you reduce the pitch to normal human range and slow it down by nearly 60%, two distinct words of at least four syllables can be heard: WINE 1A CLIP, in which some people say they hear the name "Jacob Roy" or something that sounds similar. In the second clip, WINE 2 CLIP, just after I ask if they can hear us, a voice responds that sounds something like "we hear you". A filtered version WINE 2A CLIP is somewhat clearer. If you think you hear something different, please let us know.


In the third and final clip, WINE 3 CLIP, just after I speak to my wife about moving to concentrate on a different part of the cemetery, a similar voice is heard (the same individual, perhaps?) A filtered version WINE 3A CLIP is somewhat clearer. A number of people have listened to this one and seem to be split among two lines of thought. One interpretation is that it is saying "my hands" or something distinctly related to hands (was the person injured or crippled in life?). A second leading possibility is "I'm dead". If you think you hear something different, please let us know. These EVPs were caught in the same general area as the energy streaks that were captured above. Our goal is to return to the cemetery at some point in the future and see if we can either get a clearer name, or find a stone with a name similar in sound to what was caught on tape. We might even try and find out if the person who is attempting to speak did, indeed, have a problem with their hands, or suffered from some type of injury or illness where they might have lost the use of their hands. Whatever information we manage to obtain will be posted on this site for your review!
